The Do named after the town of the same name lies in the Levant in the Region of Murcia. With 41,300 hectares Rebfläche Jumilla belongs to the greatest Spanish DOs. The vineyards are located at 400 to 800 metres of lake height. Because of the sandy grounds with lime as a bedrock this area had escaped in the 19th century of the phylloxera. The main type of vine Monastrell mainly turns into red wines (85% of the Rebfläche), Cencibel (Tempranillo), Garnacha (Grenache), produce Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
The white wines are pressed from Airén, Macabeo and Merseguera. Also nature sweet wines traditionally are produced by Pedro Ximénez or Monastrell from overripe grapes. Technology Doble pasta partly also is used.
